Grafton Field Trip Stop 2 of 7
Knotty by Nature • Dan Bechtold
What you may not know about Dan, is that he also started the Godfrey Meat Market! He sold it many years ago, but he saw a need in the community at the time.

Dan has had this hobby since 1978. You can tell he truly loves it.

While he sells his own pieces, they also feature 25 other woodworkers/makers items in the shop. Even if you are not in the market for a piece of woodwork, you MUST go visit. It is like a museum of wooden art that has unique pieces around each corner.

Dan is quite the character and is always cracking jokes. "Do you know the difference between and cutting board and a charcuterie board? About $40."

He always takes time to walk through and educate students on different types of wood and why wood may look a certain way.

He once opened a tree to find there was a snake nest inside and over 150 snakes spilled out of the tree. Did you know that trees can grow around permeant objects? Dan once cut open a tree to find a shotgun!

We always enjoy this visit as Dan & Sandy are some of the most humble people you'll find. Thanks for speaking with us!
